Prerequisites
Before installing Citrix UniconOS (formerly eLux 7) Dual Boot, ensure the following:
- You have local administrator rights on the device.
- The device runs Windows 11 in UEFI boot mode. Legacy BIOS is not supported.
-
The Windows system partition (C:) has enough free space for UniconOS plus a Windows reserve:
Item Size Minimum free space required (default) 36 GB Reserved for Windows 20 GB UniconOS partition, default size 16 GB UniconOS partition, configurable range 16–64 GB If you choose a UniconOS partition larger than the 16 GB default, add the difference to the 20 GB Windows reserve. More free space is recommended.
- You have obtained:
- The UniconOS Dual Boot installer (
UniconOSDualBootSetup.exe). - The UniconOS Dual Boot image (
.zip/.dd) for the matching UniconOS release.
Contact your Citrix representative for access and guidance.
- The UniconOS Dual Boot installer (
Disk encryption (BitLocker)
The installer detects the Windows system drive’s BitLocker state automatically — no manual step is required. If BitLocker protection is active, the installer suspends it for the single install and resumes it automatically afterwards.
Note:
As a precaution, ensure the 48-digit BitLocker recovery key is escrowed before you roll out.
Do not change the firmware Secure Boot setting while BitLocker is active without first escrowing the key. A Secure Boot toggle changes the measurements BitLocker validates and triggers a recovery-key prompt — this is a Windows/firmware behavior, independent of UniconOS.
