Enabling Chrome Enterprise Premium (CEP) on eLux®
Chrome Enterprise Premium (CEP) hands Google Chrome extension control over to your Google Admin console.
By default, eLux blocks all Chrome extensions on the device, including the ones CEP needs, such as
Secure Enterprise Browser and Endpoint Verification. Enabling CEP removes this local block.
You enable CEP with a single option in the image definition file (IDF).
There is no separate setting in Scout or on the device itself.
Note:
CEP is available from Google Chrome version 149.0.7827.196.7.2607.0-3 onwards. It is switched off by default.
-
In ELIAS, open the IDF used by the devices you want to change.
-
Expand Google Chrome Web browser.
-
Tick Chrome Enterprise Premium Support.
-
Tick Native Messaging Host for Google Chrome.
CEP requires this feature, and it also keeps single sign-on working.
-
Untick SSO Support for Google Chrome.
CEP and SSO Support cannot be used together. CEP already covers single sign-on for Citrix Secure Access™.
-
Save the IDF.
-
In Scout, assign the updated image to the device or OU and start the update.
The device restarts as part of the update.
-
In your Google Admin console, force-install the extensions you want, for example Secure Enterprise
Browser and Endpoint Verification, for the relevant users or devices.
Important:
Enabling CEP on eLux only removes the local extension block. The extensions themselves are still
delivered by your Google Admin console. Skipping this step means no extensions are installed.
For further information on editing an image definition, see
Updating existing IDFs.
For what CEP changes on the device and how to force-install extensions, see
Chrome Enterprise Premium (CEP).
