Migration from eLux RP 6 to UniconOS

The migration from eLux RP 6 to UniconOS can be carried out easily via a firmware update. For details on the procedure and the system requirements, please refer to the chapter Performing the migration in the product documentation.

Please note the life cycle milestones of eLux RP 6 so that you can plan the changeover to UniconOS accordingly.

  • 2025-03-31 EOM (End of Maintenance eLux RP 6)
  • 2025-09-30 EOL (End of Life eLux RP 6)

Update UniconOS images

The firmware update for UniconOS 2605 is carried out as usual via UniconOS Management or via the device. The UniconOS software container required for this must be created via the AllPackages container archive. Please import the AllPackages container archive into ELIAS 18 or use the installation program eLuxContainer.exe contained in the archive for the legacy ELIAS.

Improved certificate verification for firmware updates via HTTPS protocol

Please note that for firmware updates via the HTTPS protocol, the required root/intermediate certificates of a CA (Chain of Trust) must be available on the devices in /setup/cacerts/ in order to be able to perform the required certificate verification. Self-signed certificates can also be used instead of CA certificates.

Disk encryption

Disk encryption is activated by default in UniconOS and can be deactivated/activated via the encryption FPM of the BaseOS package or via a configuration parameter. For further information, see the relevant product documentation topic.

User rights for new features

Note that new features are enabled for users or administrators unless explicitly stated otherwise. If required, restrict the relevant rights.

Security updates

Further security updates to fix the Intel and AMD processor vulnerabilities are included in the release of UniconOS 2605. The updates consist of patches for the Linux kernel and processor microcode updates for AMD and Intel chipsets. Unicon strongly recommends that you perform the relevant system updates for your eLux devices. Please note that after updating your devices, appropriate tests in your system environment are necessary to ensure the desired functionality.

Client Hardware Compatibility

See Certified Hardware on myelux.com for the client models supported by this version of UniconOS.
