Known issues
This Citrix Provisioning™ release includes the following new issues:
VMware UEFI target devices with two network adapters hang on boot
On VMware ESXi, UEFI target devices configured with two vmxnet3 network adapters sometimes hang on a black screen during boot, before the Windows logon screen appears. As a workaround, assign a static IP address to the second, non-streaming adapter inside Windows. [CVADHELP-30191]
Server 2025 targets do not update FQDN in DHCP IP lease
When you boot Server 2025 target devices, they do not send the FQDN to the DHCP server, so the DHCP lease and DNS records are not updated. As a result, features that depend on the DNS name of the machine, such as monitoring agents, might fail. This issue does not occur with Server 2019 or 2022 target devices. [CVADHELP-31535]
High CPU usage from Stream Service on XenServer-based Provisioning servers
On Provisioning servers running on XenServer, you might see high CPU usage and spiking from the Stream Service. This behavior persists even after rebuilding the affected servers. [CVADHELP-32376]
High Stream process CPU usage and slow boot times with endpoint security software
When you add endpoint security software such as Cisco AMP or Microsoft Defender for Endpoint to your image, the Stream process might show high CPU usage. Under these conditions, target device boot times sometimes climb to around 10 minutes when you boot many targets concurrently. [CVADHELP-32721]
Invalid Connection Settings error when updating Azure hosting configuration in hybrid environment
When you update the Azure hosting configuration from the PVS console in a hybrid environment, the following error message appears: Invalid Connection Settings As a result, you cannot manage your Azure VMs from the PVS console. [CVADHELP-32828]
Target devices hosted on the same server intermittently hang during boot
When you run multiple target devices on the same host, they sometimes fail to boot and remain in a hung state. The affected servers do not start successfully until the issue is resolved. [CVADHELP-32847]
Incorrect load index reported for non-persistent PVS VDAs after 2507 CU1 upgrade
After upgrading your environment to 2507 CU1, non-persistent VDAs booted from the same image intermittently report incorrect load index values in Studio and Web Studio. The affected VDAs show only session count instead of the full set of configured metrics such as CPU, RAM, and session count. When you restart the servers, some report correctly while others fail again, and the affected servers vary each time. [CVADHELP-33143]
Write cache falls back to PVS server when disk attached at SCSI slot 0:0
When you attach the write cache disk at SCSI slot 0:0, the write cache redirects to the PVS server instead of the local disk. This occurs on Windows Server 2016 and 2022 target devices. As a workaround, attach the write cache disk at SCSI slot 0:1. [CVADHELP-33297]
High CPU on Provisioning Servers streaming process causes target boot failures
In some cases, the streaming process on your Provisioning Servers consumes high CPU, pegging CPU across all servers in the environment. When this happens, many target devices fail to boot. You might also see elevated CPU on the SQL server. [CVADHELP-33415]
Notifier and inventory services crash intermittently on PVS server
On PVS servers, the notifier and inventory services sometimes crash intermittently during database connection attempts. You see repeated Event ID 155 and 158 alerts, often when the database connection is not active. [CVADHELP-33687]
Target devices randomly stuck in reconnect mode on Windows Server 2019
On Windows Server 2019 target devices running Provisioning 2507, the target device intermittently becomes stuck in reconnect mode for extended periods. The issue occurs randomly without any related change to the vDisk. [CVADHELP-33688]
License entitlement validation fails when license server configuration fields are null
On PVS 2507.1, when one or more license server configuration fields in the database contain null values, license entitlement validation fails and the server might report as unlicensed. The following error message appears: LICENSING: GetLicenseServerConfiguration: unexpected error: Unable to cast object of type ‘System.DBNull’ to type ‘System.String’.. [CVADHELP-33700]
License re-acquired message appears randomly when connecting to a session
When you connect to your session, the message “License was re-acquired” sometimes appears randomly. This behavior occurs intermittently across sessions. [CVADHELP-33804]
Target devices with App Layering image sporadically hang after applying May Windows updates
When you update the OS layer with May Windows updates and publish the image to Provisioning Services, target devices sometimes hang a few minutes after users log on. The affected machines become inaccessible through RDP and console. As a workaround, republish the image using the previous OS layer without the May updates. [CVADHELP-33815]
No access to target device from Azure portal using Bastion
When you create a target device from a machine catalog in Azure and try to log in from the Azure portal using Bastion, access fails. Accessing the target device from Citrix Workspace app still works. [PVS-12360].
Manage in Virtual Apps and Desktops link opens a page stuck loading
When you right-click an MCS-provisioned collection in the PVS console and click Manage in Virtual Apps and Desktops, the browser opens Web Studio but the page keeps loading without displaying data. [PVS-12509].
SnapIn not responding message appears when selecting template in Setup Wizard
When you run the Citrix Virtual Desktops Setup Wizard and select an existing Windows VM as the template, a message appears stating that the SnapIn is not responding. As a workaround, select Cancel and continue; the device collection is still created successfully. [PVS-13332].
ConfigWizard.exe /a fails with unhandled exception during unattended configuration
When you run ConfigWizard.exe with the /a switch for unattended configuration and no service accounts are specified, the wizard fails with an unhandled exception. The following error message appears: System.ArgumentException: String cannot be of zero length.. [PVS-13391]
Max RAM size resets to default when switching vDisk modes or cache types
When you set a custom Max RAM size in vDisk properties and switch the vDisk mode between Standard and Private, the Max RAM size reverts to the default 256 MB. Your previously entered value is not retained. [PVS-13837].
Configuration Wizard disappears without explanation when an unhandled exception occurs
When the Configuration Wizard hits an unhandled exception, the dialog silently disappears instead of showing an error. You need to check the event logs to find an explanation, and the logged event is often insufficient to resolve the issue. [PVS-14292].
Creating a farm in an empty pre-existing database fails on Azure SQL
When you use the Configuration Wizard to create a new farm in an empty pre-existing database on Azure SQL, the operation fails. The ALTER DATABASE commands run against the master database return a permission error. The following error message appears: User does not have permission to alter database, the database does not exist, or the database is not in a state that allows access checks.. [PVS-14672]
Unclear error when Azure hosting connection secret expires during target provisioning
When you provision targets in Azure using an on-prem hosting connection whose client secret has expired, the BDM disk upload fails with a lengthy, hard-to-read exception instead of a clear message. The underlying cause is the expired or invalid client secret. As a workaround, update the hosting connection with a valid client secret value. [PVS-14682].
Leave Citrix Cloud page missing when rerunning Configuration Wizard on registered server
When you rerun the Configuration Wizard on a PVS server already registered with a Cloud DDC, and first select “Create farm” or “Join existing farm” to connect the database, the “Leave Citrix Cloud” page does not appear. Navigating back and selecting “Farm is already configured” still fails to show the page. [PVS-14849].
Console crashes when using Get Template Properties while creating a device
When you create a device, set it as a template, and then click “Get Template Properties…” during creation of another device, an application error dialog appears. After you click OK, the PVS console crashes. [PVS-14856].
Spurious console-not-detected warning appears after uninstalling PVS Console and Server
When you uninstall the PVS Console and then the PVS Server through the installer, a warning appears stating that the PVS Console was not detected. The warning is harmless and you might safely ignore it. [PVS-14920].
PVS Server upgrade from 2503 to 2507 CU1 fails
When you upgrade the PVS Server component from version 2503 to 2507 CU1, the installation is interrupted and does not complete successfully. [PVS-14922].
Editing MCS-PVS VM properties in PVS console does not sync to DDC
When you right-click an MCS-PVS provisioned VM in the PVS console and select Properties, you might edit properties that should not be editable. Some target device changes, such as Name, do not sync to the DDC. [PVS-15012].
SOAP server floods Windows event log when database is offline
When the database goes offline, the SOAP server generates two error-level Windows events every minute. Periodic tasks continue attempting to reach the unavailable database, filling the event log with error entries. [PVS-15103]
Windows 10 targets on XenServer might crash with a BSOD under network stress
When a Windows 10 x64 target running on XenServer is under sustained network stress, the guest might bugcheck with error 0x50 PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA. The crash occurs in the target device network stack driver during the send path. [PVS-15231].
Problem Report generation and Audit Trail export fail with large AuditAction tables
When the AuditAction table grows very large over years of farm activity, generating a Problem Report or exporting the Audit Trail becomes extremely slow. The SQL Server CPU spikes and affects the entire farm, the console becomes unresponsive, and the operation might never complete. As a workaround, periodically export and remove old audit data to keep the table bounded. [PVS-15235].
Streamed VM Setup Wizard reports no cache configurations on XenServer 9 PVS-Accelerator site
On XenServer 9.0.0 GA with Citrix Provisioning 2603, the Streamed VM Setup Wizard’s PVS-Accelerator page might not list a cache configuration that is already configured and actively caching. When this happens, the following error message appears: There are no Cache Configurations available on the XenServer host. You must create a Cache Configuration in XenCenter As a result, you cannot create accelerated streamed VMs through the wizard. [PVS-15236]
Database deadlock might occur in scheduled task processing on the PVS server
When the PVS server processes scheduled work, concurrent database transactions might deadlock. When this happens, the following error message appears: AcquireScheduledWork: unexpected SQL error: Transaction (Process ID 350) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction.. [PVS-15253]
ISO booting a target device does not display PVS server information
When you boot a target device using the boot ISO, the boot screen only shows the VM MAC address, not the PVS server information. This happens whether or not a vDisk is assigned to the device. [PVS-15257].
PVS performance counters stop updating on recent Windows Server 2019 builds
After you apply recent Windows updates to Server 2019 servers and targets, PVS performance counters stop updating because the callback signaling active monitoring no longer fires reliably. As a workaround, run a tool such as typeperf first to enable the counters. [PVS-15280].

Select the Target Device is UEFI firmware checkbox. Enter an FQDN longer than 15 characters in the Server FQDN field. Clear the Target Device is UEFI firmware checkbox. Select Use static IP address for the Server . You can continue to the next page if you clear the FQDN field or reduce the number of characters to fewer than 15. [PVS-9954]

P2PVS cannot create a vDisk when the VM being imaged is booted with UEFI
P2PVS cannot create a vDisk when the VM being imaged is booted with UEFI. As a workaround, use Imaging Wizard. For example, run c:\\Program Files\\Citrix\\Provisioning Services\\ImagingWizard.exe P2vhdx win10 c:\\test to create a VHDX file named win10 in c:\test . When you use UEFI imaging, consider the following: You cannot specify individual volumes. UEFI imaging operates on the entire boot disk. UEFI imaging does not support multiple disks. The system images only a single boot disk configuration. [PVS-14851]
